Donut Bar Review
“MMmmm donuts.” Homer Simpson’s immortal quote was playing in my head as Kellen and I headed down to Donut Bar in Downtown San Diego.
This quaint donut shop is well known for its creative confections using Snickers Bars, Bacon, Saigon Sugar and a bevy of other delights. The good thing about Donut Bar is we were able to walk there and proactively walk off the calories we were about to consume.
Donut Bar posts their menu daily of delectable concoctions and have established such a strong following they frequently sell out. So tip of the day, go early!
We got the Crème Brule, Maple Bacon and Salted Caramel donuts. The staff was super friendly and attentive! You can tell they take their donuts very seriously here! They even have a Donut Lounge upstairs, where patrons can suggest ideas for new donut flavors for the baker to whip up! I really would like to see a S’More Donut!
The Salted Caramel Donut was probably the best donut I’ve ever had. It was pure AWESOME-ness. It had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. I’m so glad I only got one because I would of scarfed down a second donut.
Donut Bar has a really strong Facebook following and you can follow them at https://www.facebook.com/DonutBar to see what their flavors will be tomorrow. This is a great place to meet up with friends on a Sunday morning for a sweet treat and a good cup o’ joe (coffee is $1). The great thing about donuts is they never go out of style; you just have to watch your waistline.
Until Next Time, Suzy
